Privacy Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
Eloqia is an app for learning German by reading. This policy explains what information the Eloqia app and this website collect, why, who processes it and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we don’t show ads in the app, and we never sell your data. We advertise Eloqia on Facebook and Instagram, and we share some information with Meta to measure those ads, in full only if you allow tracking when the app asks.
Who is responsible
Eloqia is provided by Ömer Faruk Aydın (“we”). For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].
What we collect
Without an account
You can read without signing in. Your reading progress, saved words and settings are then stored only on your device. To load books, the app requests their texts, covers and narration from our servers; these requests don’t identify you.
With an account (Sign in with Apple)
- Account: the identifier Apple gives us for your account and your email address, or the private relay address if you choose Hide My Email. We don’t receive your Apple ID password.
- Learning data: your reading progress, saved books, the words you save (with the sentence you found them in), your review schedule, daily reading activity (time read, chapters finished, words looked up, per device, using a random identifier created by the app) and your app settings, so they sync across your devices.
- Premium: whether you have an active subscription, which plan, and when it renews or expires.
Purchases
Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. To manage subscriptions we use RevenueCat, which receives your purchase receipts from Apple and your Eloqia account identifier.
Measuring our ads on Facebook and Instagram
When you first open the app, iOS asks whether Eloqia may track you. Nothing is sent to Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) before you answer. After that, the app uses Meta’s software development kit to tell Meta about these events: installing and opening the app, finishing the introduction, creating an account, opening a book’s page, finishing your first chapter, and starting a trial or buying a subscription in the app. Each event comes with basic device information such as the device model, iOS version, language and time zone, and an identifier Meta’s kit creates for the app.
- If you allow tracking, these events also include your device’s advertising identifier, so Meta can tell us which ad brought you to Eloqia. RevenueCat additionally sends Meta your subscription events (trial starts, purchases and renewals, with the price), your device’s advertising identifier, your IP address and, if you have an account, a hashed (scrambled) version of your email address and account identifier. Meta uses these to match the events to our ads.
- If you ask Eloqia not to track, the events are sent without the advertising identifier and are marked as not allowed to track. Meta then uses them only in aggregated form, through its Aggregated Event Measurement, to report how our ads perform overall. RevenueCat sends Meta nothing about you, and your email address is never shared with Meta. Apple may also tell advertisers, in aggregated and delayed form, that an ad led to an install (SKAdNetwork).
You can change your answer any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Meta processes this data under its own privacy policy, available at facebook.com/privacy/policy.
This website
The website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or trackers. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security.
Why we use it
- To provide the app: show your books and progress, sync them across your devices and schedule your reviews.
- To provide Premium: unlock chapters for subscribers.
- To answer you when you contact support.
- To measure how well our ads on Facebook and Instagram work, and to show them to people likely to enjoy Eloqia.
Under the GDPR, we process account and learning data to perform our contract with you (providing the app), and subscription data for the same reason and to meet legal obligations. We share data with Meta for ad measurement based on your consent when you allow tracking, and otherwise, in the limited form described above, based on our legitimate interest in measuring our advertising in aggregate.
Who processes it
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and files, in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
- RevenueCat manages subscriptions, in the United States.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, the App Store and payments.
- Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited in the EU, Meta Platforms, Inc. elsewhere) receives the ad measurement data described above.
Supabase, RevenueCat and Apple process data only on our behalf and under their own security and privacy commitments. Meta uses the data it receives under its own privacy policy and terms. Transfers outside the EU rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
What we don’t do
- No ads in the app.
- No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites unless you allow it.
- No selling or renting of personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete it and all its data permanently. Subscription records may be kept longer where the law requires it. Data already sent to Meta for ad measurement is kept by Meta under its own policy; deleting your Eloqia account doesn’t remove it there.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account any time in the app: Settings → Delete Account.
- Use the app without an account, keeping your learning data on your device.
- Turn tracking on or off in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to restrict or object to processing, or to delete it, by contacting [email protected]. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Eloqia isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
